30 Days of TV - Day 15. Favorite female character: Pasty Stone from Absolutely Fabulous (BBC)
As mentioned in earlier posts, my high school years were spent obsessively watching Comedy Central, and AbFab was a staple of my media diet. I love British comedy, but Eddie and Patsy just seemed to click; it was over the top, ridiculous, and sexy in the city, before Sex and the City. I think I was particularly taken with 3 generations of women in a single house, a story that was similar to my own, but it was Patsy, the raucous outsider, that stole my heart.
I saw myself as a blend of Eddie, Saffie, and Gran, but I wanted a Patsy; I wanted a vivacious, unapologetic, party girl for a best friend. Someone who would come into my home like a whirlwind and disrupt my humdrum life.
Lately I’ve been telling myself to be “less Saf, more Pats.”
